New Komeito Headquarters = Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo

The original draft of the proposal put together by the New Komeito Party regarding measures against high prices in light of rising energy and food prices has been revealed. It states that a special benefit of 50,000 yen per child will be provided to households raising children in need. Low-income single-parent households receiving child-rearing allowances and households raising children exempt from resident tax are eligible. Party officials said on the 8th. Coordination is under way to submit it to Prime Minister Kishida on the 15th.

Funding will be provided from the 5 trillion yen contingency fund of the fiscal 2022 budget. At a press conference, Policy Research Council Chairman Takagi emphasized, “There is an urgent need to support families raising children who are in financial difficulty.”

The original draft included an increase in the temporary subsidy for regional revitalization so that local governments could provide intensive support according to the actual situation.
