50,000 Palestinians Displaced from Gaza City to Southern Region of Palestine – Israeli Military Spokesman

Jakarta

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said as many as 50,000 Palestinians had left the city area Gaza. These residents are said to have left North Gaza for the southern region of Palestine.

“Today we saw how 50,000 Gazans were displaced from Gaza north to southern Gaza,” said Daniel Hagari, reported by AFP, Thursday (9/11/2023).

Daniel Hagari said Palestinians left the Gaza City area because they understood that Hamas was ‘losing control’.

“They left because they understood that Hamas was losing control in the north, and the south was safer,” he said.

Reported by the BBC, residents left Gaza City today after Israeli troops opened Salah el-Din road, the main road to the southern Gaza Strip. The IDF is said to have left the road open for five hours today.

Daniel Hagari also said there was no ceasefire. It said the Israeli military appeared to be implementing a limited pause that had been suggested by US officials.

It is not known how many civilians remain in the Gaza City area (including the Shati and Jabaliya refugee camps and surrounding areas), but several days ago, US officials estimated there may be 300,000 to 400,000 remaining.
