50,000 euros for the Cousseau nature reserve

We have created barriers that can be crossed by men but impassable by cows“explains Xavier Chevillot, director of SEPANSO which manages the Cousseau pond nature reserve for the State. These structures were built thanks to to the 50,000 euros of the relaunch plan granted to the site. They will allow visitors to the nature reserve to observe and approach Landes sea cows, a species that almost disappeared ten years ago. Its reintroduction on the Cousseau site saved it.

These cows have a management role within the reserve. They allow part of the tractors to be replaced for grazing. Their build is adapted to a marsh environment, and to wet soils.

A budget of 250 million euros at national level

250 million euros of the recovery plan are intended for biodiversity at the national level. 12.3 million euros have already been mobilized by the Nouvelle Aquitaine region.

For the prefect of Gironde, Fabienne Buccio “_It is important to show our fellow citizens that biodiversity is not neglected by the recovery plan. When we often talk about it, we think of companies, it’s fair, of associations , that’s also fair. But we also talk about biodiversity and the environment “.
