An epic behind-the-scenes video from Mission Impossible 7 reveals how the stunt scene was filmed. The making of Tom Cruise’s deadliest stunt scenes, which included 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross rides, left viewers wondering, “Is he human”?
It took years for Tom Cruise and his crew to film the most dangerous stunt scene in Hollywood history. Tom jumped off the plane thirty times a day for skydiving training. So Tom Cruise successfully completed more than 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross jumps during stunt training.
Before shooting the scene, the first step was setting up a cliff-like set in Norway. Cardboard boxes were stacked on the bottom, similar to that of a cliff. To figure out the shape of the ramp Tom has to ride a bicycle, the GPS is attached to his clothes and his movements are recorded.
After months of hard work, the ramp was set up in Norway where the stunt was to be filmed. The necessary materials were brought in by helicopter. The Aybak ramp was completed by engineers and technicians. Before filming the scene in Coke, Tom Cruise took a helicopter and parachuted into Coke to check out the weather and conditions firsthand.
Tom Cruise explains in the video what it’s like to ride a bicycle quickly over the side of a cliff. If he rides his bike in the direction of the wind and jumps into the right position, death is guaranteed. If you fall off the ramp while cycling, you could be injured. Even if the parachute gets caught in the bicycle during the jump, life could be lost. We are watching this video with bated breath. But in front of Tom Cruise, what the fuck! Cruise did well on the first take. Tom parachuted down and said, ‘Let’s take one more pitch, I’ll keep the bike a little longer.’… So that jump Tom jumped six times.
“This is the most dangerous stunt we have ever attempted. It was years in the making. It was filmed in Norway. A motorcycle jump off a cliff will be filmed. Now I can do what I have wanted to do since I was a kid.” – says writer-director Christopher McGuire.
Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning parts one and two is the most anticipated project in Hollywood. The film is currently filming in South Africa. The video also includes clips of the action star’s grueling preparations to star in the adventure. Christopher McGuire also says that not only this, but more adventures are yet to come.
Dead Reckoning is the seventh film in the Mission Impossible series. After Mission Impossible Rogue Nation and Mission Impossible Fallout, this is the film directed by Christopher McGuire. The first part will hit theaters on July 14 next year and the second part on June 28, 2024.
