500 euro care bonus for staff in ‘front line’ or lower bonus for all care workers | Inland

According to the minister, it is also urgent to take a decision. A decision must be made by mid-April at the latest, otherwise implementation would be too delayed. She wants to debate it with the House on Thursday.

The sectors that would qualify for the 500 euros are general practitioners and health centers, hospitals, nursing, care, home care, ambulance services and central posts. Here, people work relatively often with Covid patients and the absenteeism rate is high. Employees who earn no more than 1.5 times the average could receive the bonus. If this option is chosen, people in care for the disabled, mental health care or youth care will not receive extra money.

If option two is chosen, everyone in healthcare is eligible. This was not the case last year, but now “all professional groups have provided care during the second wave,” says Van Ark. This concerns people who earn no more than twice the average. The amount paid out per person depends on the number of questions.

Last year, a bonus of 1000 euros was awarded to healthcare workers. This was not intended for everyone, but was widely requested by many institutions. As a result, the budget was exceeded. Van Ark wants to prevent more money being spent this year than budgeted again. A total of 720 million euros is available. Last year, this was initially 1.44 billion euros, which was later increased by another 800 million.
