Annick, 72, was born in Le Havre to a stay-at-home mother and a policeman father. A bank employee until her retirement in 2005, she moved to Nancy in 1970 to join her young husband.
Gérard, 79, was born in Nancy to a mother employed in the departmental maternity hospital and to a driver father. Military in Algeria in 1962, policeman in Paris in 1964, he was transferred to Nancy in 1969. After a year in Forbach (Moselle) as a brigadier-chief and a year in Commercy (Meuse), he returned to Nancy until his retirement in 1995.
A love born in Brittany
Annick and Gérard meet in August 1969 in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, in the holiday village of the national police. They keep in touch by phone, by mail. “Gérard came to see me every month and a half, depending on his on-call duty,” recalls Annick. We got engaged just before Christmas, in Nancy, so that my parents could see the pretty Place Stanislas. We got married on April 3, 1970, in Le Havre. Our son Julien was born in June 1980. Married since 2015, he lives in Paris. “
Retired, Annick and Gérard organize and lead trips for the Amicale de la Police: Austria, Italy, central France. Together, they enjoy cruises: Norway, Vietnam, the Mediterranean Sea… They are getting ready to spend 9 days on the Danube, from Budapest to the Black Sea, in September. A honeymoon… golden.
They settled in Ifs in July 2014. “We were very well received. We appreciate our neighbors and the city takes good care of us seniors ”. It is in their new home that they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021. Postponed for a year, the ceremony took place in the presence of the four generations of their family, the mayor of the city and his deputy.
