Throw BloombergAccording to reports from the Milanese authorities, most of the passengers who tested positive for Covid-19 did not show any symptoms.
However, local Italian media reported that the government was concerned about the emergence of a new variant of Covid-19 amid a spike in infections in China.
Therefore, in addition to carrying out a Covid-19 test, the Milan authorities will also carry out a sequencing test to check if there is a new Covid-19 variant among passengers who have tested positive for the corona virus.
If the existence of a new variant is confirmed, the Italian government plans to apply stricter controls and rules to all visitors from the country of the Bamboo Curtain.
Italy is on high alert regarding a new wave of Covid-19 in China because the European country was once a vortex of corona virus transmission at the start of the pandemic.
Italy was the country most affected by the transmission of Covid-19 at the beginning of the pandemic.
However, Italy was able to quickly contain the contagion following high Covid-19 vaccination rates.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 80% of Italians have received full vaccinations. Many of them have also received booster vaccinations.
In addition to Italy, numerous other countries such as the United States, India, Malaysia and the Philippines have responded to the wave of Covid-19 in China by tightening controls on migrants from the bamboo curtain country.
Meanwhile, other countries such as Britain, Australia and Germany are still closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in China.
China continues to face waves of Covid-19, especially since President Xi Jinping’s government repealed the regulation confinement strictly due to the protests of the residents who feel frustrated.
Several experts consider Xi’s decision to backfire as taken suddenly and without preparation regarding the prevention of transmission of the Covid-19 after the restrictions confinement revoked.
So far, China has not released any official data on the total number of new Covid-19 cases. Chinese authorities have even stopped reporting daily cases of Covid-19 during the current surge.
On the other hand, the WHO and the US have urged China to be transparent about the number of Covid-19 cases and the overall situation in the bamboo curtain country.
That’s because hospitals and crematoria in China are reportedly starting to become overwhelmed by the surge in patients and the accumulation of bodies of Covid-19.
An internal report by Chinese authorities that was leaked to the media even claimed that there were more than 250 million cases of Covid-19 in the Bamboo Curtain country during the first two weeks of December.
