BEIJING – Over the past 10 years, the Chinese Communist Party has subjected 50 lakh party members to ‘corruption inspections’. A criminal case was recorded against 553 people. Xiao Pei, deputy secretary of the disciplinary and inspection committee, said while speaking to media at the party congress venue that more than 2 lakh party officials were subjected to various punishments during this period. The Communist Party of China has 9.6 million members.
Xiao Pei also said that corruption has been significantly reduced over the past decade. Most of them are bribes such as taking bribes and selling institutions. At least 80,000 party members have confessed their mistakes in the past 5 years.
