BEIJING – Over the past 10 years, the Chinese Communist Party has subjected 50 lakh party members to ‘corruption inspections’. A criminal case was recorded against 553 people. Xiao Pei, deputy secretary of the disciplinary and inspection committee, said while speaking to media at the party congress venue that more than 2 lakh party officials were subjected to various punishments during this period. The Communist Party of China has 9.6 million members.
Xiao Pei also said that corruption has been significantly reduced over the past decade. Most of them are bribes such as taking bribes and selling institutions. At least 80,000 party members have confessed their mistakes in the past 5 years.
Xi Jinping, who is trying to stay in power by amending the party law for up to 10 years in the post of president and general secretary, is making an anti-corruption image.
After Xi Jinping became the ruler, he declared a crusade against corruption. Xi’s policy is to gain popularity by cutting out rivals. The court recently sentenced 2 ministers involved in a corruption case to death. A lawsuit is filed after an investigation of the party and subsequent expulsion.
At the same time, Xi said the next 5 years are crucial in addressing the Party Congress delegates. Xi also called for “winning the war” in the world of technology through self-sufficiency.
