Leipzig / Dresden – In order to achieve the climate goals, authorities repeatedly insist on strengthening local public transport. For this to work, however, buses and trains also have to become more attractive – and ticket prices play a role for many people.

The ADAC has now taken on 21 German cities and compared their ticket prices. The examiners in Saxony noticed that they are drifting apart between Leipzig and Dresden!
“In the entire test, Dresden has often secured one of the first places at the lowest prices, while Leipzig’s ticket prices can often be found in one of the lower places,” said a message published by the Auto Club on Thursday.
While adults still wage 2.50 euros for a single trip in Dresden, 3 euros are already charged in Leipzig. For comparison: on average, the examiners came to a price of 2.88 euros for single trips for adults.

Dresden manages to be below the average price in almost all categories. The only exception: the single trip for children. At this point, Leipzig made it to the top and delivered the cheapest offer.
–
For comparison, the prices are listed in the order Leipzig / Dresden / Average:
- Short-haul adults: 2 euros / no offer / 1.73 euros
- Single trip adults 3 euros / 2.50 euros / 2.88 euros
- Single trip children: 1.20 euros / 1.70 euros / 1.59 euros
- Day ticket adults: 8 euros / 6.50 euros / 7.30 euros
- Weekly adult ticket: 28.30 euros / 21.90 euros / 27.15 euros
- Adult monthly ticket: 82.10 euros / 63.60 euros / 80.60 euros
- Taking bicycles with you: 2 euros / 2 euros / 2.28 euros
The ADAC emphasizes that a direct comparison of the cities is only partially meaningful, as no two cities are the same and so the needs and requirements are different.
