5-year-old victim ‘should have gone away’ | Abroad

Rome Smith responded to the death of Cannon Hinnant who was executed on his bicycle in his garden in Wilson, North Carolina. He wrote that his parents should have paid more attention to him.

Hinnant’s death turned into a heated debate when the shooter was revealed to be the boy’s 25-year-old black neighbor Darius. It was suggested online that it was a racist murder.

According to police reports, Darius Sessoms would have deliberately walked up to the boy and shot him at close range in the head. The police themselves have not yet disclosed anything about the motive.

Local authorities have labeled black Rome Smith’s Facebook post as “extremely insensitive and racist,” NJCom writes. His employer, a juvenile detention center in New Jersey, has suspended him. “We will not tolerate our employees sending hate messages,” said Joseph Derella on behalf of the institution.

Cannon’s father says in the Wilson Times that his son was playing with his sisters in the garden when he was just shot. At first he thought that his son had fallen off the bicycle.

Eyewitnesses also tell the WRAL channel that there was no reason whatsoever. The perpetrator, who has lived next door to Cannon’s family for eight years, had had a beer with his neighbor the day before.

According to the father, the brutal murder of his son Cannon is “not racism,” he told Wilson Times. The killer’s family says Darius was probably high and shot Cannon while hallucinating.

Darius Nathaniel Sessoms has been charged with murder.
