Suara.com – As you get older, bone density will be less and less. Bones can be brittle to the point of causing joint pain and bone pain up to osteoporosis.
Speaking in the webinar on Secrets of Being Healthy & Active at Golden Age, Tuesday (25/5/2021), Internal Medicine Specialist dr. Rina Juwita Sp. Pd shares ways to prevent osteoporosis problems for the elderly group or elderly people. Here’s the explanation.
Get calcium and vitamin D.
Doctor Rina said that calcium and vitamin D intake is very important. Calcium itself can be obtained from seafood such as fish and milk. He also strongly advised the public to get good sunshine
“Nearly 50 percent of Indonesians suffer from vitamin D deficiency. Maybe because they are lazy to bask in the sun and are afraid of black skin. Then the easy-to-absorb calcium comes from milk. Whether it’s pure or from cow’s milk,” he said.

Get regular exercise
Doing sports regularly, said Rina Juwita. very important because it is good for bone health. “Do not do sports before pain, the name is prevention, it is necessary to do sports. Because it trains bone health,” he said.
Avoid consuming alcohol and smoking
There have been many studies that reveal the dangers of smoking and consuming alcohol. “Avoid smoking and also consuming alcohol. Because it can be at risk (bad) on calcium,” he explained.
Consult a bone health doctor
He said that he needed to consult with a specialist in bone health. “This means that it is better to prevent than to cure. Because treating it is heavier and more costly, “he said.
Get a bone density test
He continued that he needed to do a bone density test. It happens because as you get older, a person can experience a lack of bone density. “You can do periodic bone density tests. Because we get older, we will experience a lack of bone density,” he concluded.
