MELAKA, KOMPAS.com – a hotel 5 stars in Melaka, Malaysia, swerved to sell rice wrap for only 2 ringgit (IDR 7,000).
Malaysian news agency Named mention, Hatten Hotel in Melaka this is the third to do it after in Penang and Terengganu.
The merchandise called Nasi Bajet (cheap rice) was sold to make up for financial losses during the Movement Control Order (MCO). PSBB in Indonesia.

The head chef of Hatten Hotel, Badrol Hisham Mohd Ali, said that the initiative was taken because no guests were staying overnight and the restaurant was still closed.
“Apart from bringing in hotel income affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the sale of budget rice is also expected to provide joy for the affected communities, to get food at cheaper prices.”
“We started selling this budget rice on Friday (5/2/2021) and the response received was very encouraging, about 500 people come every day,” he explained to Named, Tuesday (8/2/2021).

Badrol Hisham also said that the dishes served include white rice with chicken or fish pieces and some vegetables.
“There are also other side dishes such as honey chicken, chicken splash, and cookies, but they are sold separately.”
“We offer a different menu every day so that customers can enjoy a variety of dishes and never get bored with the same side dishes every day,” he continued.
The chef also said they were open from 12 noon to 8 pm every day.
He revealed that Hatten Hotel will continue to sell budget rice every day for a month, and further action will be decided to adjust the development of the MCO.
A customer who mentioned his name Azlin (22) admitted that he was very happy with the rice cake, because his job as a salesman at a shop near the hotel made his food budget limited.
“Since Banda Hilir is a public focus area, most restaurants sell food at a rather high price.”
“Therefore, this budget rice helps me get good food at a cheaper price.”
“Even though I have to queue for about 30 minutes, I think it’s worth the price offered,” he concluded.
