The reason is simple, this disease causes a stuffy nose accompanied by greenish-yellow discharge. The main causes of sinusitis are viral infections or allergies which can cause swelling of the walls of the nose.
Sinusitis generally occurs in the walls of the cheekbones and forehead, whose function is to regulate the temperature and humidity of the air before it enters the lungs. Well, this cavity is also commonly known as sinus cavity.
Even though cases of sinusitis are quite common among Indonesians, there are still many who don’t know more about this disease. Beyond that, many myths about sinusitis circulate.

1. The myth that sinusitis is contagious
Indeed, in some cases of sinusitis, this disease can actually be transmitted from a sufferer to a healthy person. However, this really depends on the cause of the sinusitis. Sinusitis itself is divided into two, namely bacteria and viruses.
Cold or flu symptoms occur when the sinuses are blocked and filled with mucus. Well, the bacteria in there can grow and cause an infection in your sinuses.
In most cases, the bacteria that cause sinusitis are Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenza and Moraxella catarrhalis.
