So, limit your green tea consumption if you have hypertension, cardiovascular disease, or other medical conditions to prevent potential complications.

2. Increase stress and anxiety

A cup of green tea can help you relax after a tiring day. However, drinking several cups of green tea every day can make you even more stressed. This is because too much caffeine in your bloodstream can trigger your adrenal glands to produce more of the stress hormones norepinephrine, adrenaline, and cortisol.

3. Anemia

Green tea when consumed in large quantities can interfere with the absorption of iron from food and can cause iron deficiency anemia in which your red blood cells are reduced or insufficient.

This is the reason why health experts strongly recommend intake of green tea immediately after meals. If you have iron deficiency anemia, you may experience fatigue, dizziness, pale skin, cold hands and feet, chest pain, shortness of breath, and a fast heartbeat.

4. Stomach pain

Green tea also contains tannins, which are plant compounds that have astringent properties and are able to shrink some of the tissues in your body. 5. Sleep disturbances

Excess caffeine from green tea can make it harder to fall asleep. Drinking green tea before bed can also make you want to urinate at night, which can disrupt your sleep, and leave you feeling tired in the morning. They can affect your performance at work and interfere with your ability to carry out daily activities.
