JAKARTA, iNewsCirebon.id – File the sad story of an animal sent into spacefrom Worm As far as Dog. Dozens of animals have sent into space by man to carry out special shipments.
From this series of women who have been sent, there have been many sad and strange stories that have happened during the sending process. Not even some of the animals sent into space died.
For the sake of experimentation, humans never run out of animals to take into space. Some of them are purely for research and some are just gimmicks.
Recently the European Space Agency (ESA) is in the news for sending animated character Shaun the Sheep on a space mission NASA on the moon, Artemis I. They claim that Shaun the Sheep is the first “sheep” to exist in space.
So which animals were sent into space by a special expedition? Quoted by Sindonews.com, Saturday (3/12/2022) follows the sad story of an animal sent into space.
The sad story of an animal sent into space:
5. The worm who escaped the Columbia tragedy
In 2003, NASA piloted the Columbia spacecraft which ended tragically as it failed to fly and crashed. The seven crew members of the spacecraft died.
It’s just that there is one organism that actually survived the fatal crash, namely the nematode or Caenorhabditis elegans. The creature was brought aboard the International Space Station during Columbia’s 28th mission.
Numerous experiments relating to microgravity and its effects on gene expression have been conducted with the worm. Nathaniel Szewczyk, a scientist who worked with samples of the nematode worm after the crash, said no one expected the worm to survive. The worm is protected by a heat resistant coating.
4. Felicette the sweet cat from France
Félicette is one of 14 cats trained for space flight by France. Using the French Veronique AG1 rocket, Felicette flew into space as part of research conducted by France at the time.
Felicette also passed that phase and returned to earth. Because of this, Félicette was later dubbed Felix the Cat by the local media. He was also lucky because she Felicette had a statue made at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. There is a statue of Felicette next to a statue of Yuri Gagarin, the first human to go into space.
