5 powerful committees of Congress were formed for the Lok Sabha elections, they will decide who will get the ticket and who will not…

New Delhi : Congress on Friday formed five screening committees to select candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Lok Sabha elections are to be held in April-May. The party has divided all the states and union territories into five groups. According to a party statement, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has constituted a screening committee.

The first group includes Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Puducherry. Harish Chaudhary has been appointed chairman of this screening committee, while Jignesh Mevani and Vishwajeet Kadam have been appointed members.

Madhusudan Mistry has been appointed head of the committee for Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Odisha, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Suraj Hegde and Shafi Parambil are its members.

Rajni Patil has been appointed chairman of the screening committee for Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, while Krishna Allavuru and Pargat Singh are its members.

Bhakta Charan Das has been appointed chairman of the screening committee for the group comprising Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In this, Neeraj Dangi and Yashomati Thakur have been appointed as members.

Party leader from Punjab, Rana KP Singh, has been appointed chairman of the screening committee for the group comprising Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim. Jaivardhan Singh and Ivan D’Souza have been appointed as members.
