Legend has it that in 1924, a teenager named Lionel Sternberger was the first to put a slice of cheese on his hamburger when he worked at his father’s store in Pasadena, California. And thanks to his creativity, an incomparable flavor was discovered that is now called cheeseburger.
Every September 18, National Cheeseburger Day is celebrated in the United States, although its true origin has been attributed by different “inventors.”
Some say it was born in 1934, when the Kaelin’s restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky, marketed the first cheeseburger. However, a year later, the attractive word appeared at the Humpty Dumpty drive-in in Denver, Colorado.
The truth is that resisting a cheeseburger seems practically impossible, so no matter where it initially came from, take advantage of the day to enjoy your cheeseburger in New York.
