One of the keys to having a unique wedding photo album is to play with perspective, so take note of how to achieve it with the tricks that we discuss below.
1- Change the position of your camera
The most common thing is to take a frontal photo or what is known in photography as a normal or flush position, that is, placing the camera in front of the element we are photographing (at eye level).
The interesting thing is that a simple change of angle we manage to give the image a completely different reading.
The most extreme positions would be the zenith (taking the photo from above) and the nadir (taking the photo from below). They are very interesting shots, but if the person you are photographing keeps looking straight ahead, it will not appear to see the face well in the photo. So it is time to play with the posture of the models so that the result is dynamic.
If you don’t want to change the angle so drastically, you can do a dive (about 45⁰ above the person’s eyes). Use this angle in portraits of wedding albums It is a great option because it transmits subtlety.
2- Play with your point of view
In this case, it’s about changing your posture. That is, crouch down, shoot from the waist, lie on the floor … seek to change your point of view to discover more interesting frames.
3- Explore forced perspective
You know those photos where a small item and a large item look the same size or the smaller one looks bigger? Something like a shoe stepping on a building … Well, this is achieved by placing the elements in different planes. The one closest to the lens will be much larger.
This is a very fun resource that allows us to create unique scenes in wedding photo albums.
A simple juxtaposition can be achieved with only two elements, for example, by placing the wedding couple about 7 or 8 meters from the table where the cake is, which would be in the foreground like a giant candy eaten by little people.
4- Shoot from behind a glass
Even better if it is a glass with reflections because you will get a layered effect. A kind of double exposure. In this case you are not playing with the distance between the elements but creating depth by superimposing them.
You can also play with other reflective surfaces, from sunglasses to a jug of liquid.
5- Frame your subjects
Experiment with different frames. Look for already available ways that people can interact with, such as doors and windows.
If you want to go a little further, take the photo through an object, for example, a hole in a log, a roll of paper … It’s all a matter of letting your imagination fly!
