5-month-old baby dies in accident in Genk: mother and…

On Wednesday afternoon, a serious accident occurred in an accident at the Westerring in Genk. A five-month-old baby was killed. Police are now looking for witnesses to the accident.

At around 4.30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, a serious accident happened at the intersection of the Westerring and the slip road to the E314. A van and a car collided near the traffic lights. In the car was a young woman with two small children. The 30-year-old woman from Zutendaal and her children were seriously injured. They were taken to hospital. One of the children, a 5-month-old baby, later died in hospital from injuries.

A traffic expert was commissioned by the public prosecutor to investigate the circumstances of the accident. The Westerring was closed to traffic for a while.

The Westerring was closed for a while by the local police CARMA in the direction of Oudsbergen. Exit 31 of the E314 towards the Netherlands was also not accessible. The Westerring was closed from C-Mine and Evence Coppéelaan in the direction of Hoevenzavellaan, causing serious traffic disruption for a while.
