The stars of the cycling team won 5 colored medals, two gold and three silver, on the first day of the Arab Track Championship in Cairo, which will be held until 9 October at the Cairo International Track.
Safia Al Sayegh won the UAE’s first gold medal in the 500 meters, and Saif Mayouf, the champion of Salalah Tawaf, took gold in the men’s scratch race after a strong challenge in which Ahmed Al Mansouri also won the silver medal, while the nascent champion Huda Hussein won two silvers: the first day, the girls in the two scratch races and the women’s 500 meters race.
Kholoud Al Dhaheri, member of the Governing Council of the Cycling Federation, expressed his happiness for the wonderful level presented by the team on the first day and the great development in the level of the girls, which led to the competition with ancient teams in cycling, such as Egypt, Algeria, Morocco and Saudi Arabia, and they expected more successes and medals in the rest of the championship days.
The men’s scratch race saw strong and great competition between the teams in the race which was attended by 10 players from Egypt, UAE, Algeria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Oman Al-Mansoori from the silver medal.
