5 healthy habits to prevent colon cancer, don’t eat too much sausage

There are several things you can do to prevent colon cancer, including:

1. Limit your intake of red meat and processed meat

Red meat is one of many people’s favorite food ingredients. However, consuming too much red meat can increase your risk of colon cancer. Besides, consuming too many processed meat products sold in the market can also worsen the digestive system of the body. Processed meat products like sausages contain a lot of preservatives so it’s not good to eat them too often to prevent the risk of colon cancer.

2. Eat lots of fiber and whole grains

Fiber is a food source needed by the body’s digestive organs. A sufficient amount of fiber can start the digestive process in our body. In addition to fiber, whole grains also have digestive health benefits. It is recommended that a person consume 3 or more servings of whole grains per day and 22 to 23 grams of fiber per day, depending on gender and age.

3. Maintain an ideal weight

Being overweight or obese can lead to various diseases, including colon cancer. One study claims that there are at least 13 types of cancer associated with weight gain and obesity, one of which is colon cancer. To maintain an ideal body weight, you need to exercise regularly and maintain your food intake.

4. Quit smoking

It’s almost obvious that quitting smoking is the best thing to keep your body healthy. Smoking can cause 15 types of cancer, including colon cancer. Not only that, smoking can also increase the risk of other chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke and emphysema.

5. Exercise

Experts recommend that exercising for 30 minutes or more each day can help reduce the risk of many serious diseases, one of which is colon cancer. Physical activities that can be done are brisk walking, cycling, dancing, or gardening.
