※ [겜ㅊㅊ]is a corner that recommends games that gamers can enjoy according to a special theme every week.
There are less than 10 days left until you can enjoy Diablo 4. As we get closer to release, many people are trying to soothe themselves with cinematics and trailers, but it’s hard to wait. Rather, it has serious side effects that only increase the appetite.
So this week [겜ㅊㅊ]I would like to recommend a good hack and slash RPG while waiting for Diablo 4. We have prepared a variety of works, from story-focused works to equipment farming-specific works, so there will be no shortage of spending the remaining time. Please note that games that are too famous like Path of Exile or too old like Titan Quest are excluded.
1. Last Epoch
The first game I would recommend is Last Epoch. It depicts the resistance of mankind surviving in a world destroyed by the undead army. In terms of graphic atmosphere and system, there are many evaluations that it is somewhere between Diablo and Path of Exile. The overall elements, such as the way to select a specific branch among various passive skills, the item grade including legends, and the equipment crafting system, are very similar to Diablo.
There are a total of 5 jobs to choose from: ‘Sentinel’ who handles swords, ‘Mage’ who uses various elemental magic, ‘Primalist’ who deals with beasts and magic, ‘Acolite’ who fights through necromancy, and ‘Acolite’ who uses daggers or bows. A ‘log’ exists. And each class is further divided into 3 specializations, allowing you to create your own build by choosing one of several skill branches. However, the only regret is that it is still in the Early Access stage and does not officially support Korean.
2. Grim Dunn
The next game I would recommend is Grim Dawn, released in 2016. It is a game released directly by Iron Roar Entertainment, the creators of Titan Quest, after independence from THQ. The background deals with the post-apocalyptic world mixed with Cthulhu mythology and fantasy. You can enjoy cool action by wiping out various zombies and monsters. You can experience the dark feeling of Diablo 2 in the atmosphere and graphics of the game.
In particular, Grim Dawn focused on the joy of equipment farming, not leveling up or quests. You can get items from bosses and monsters, as well as corpses, chests, and altars all over the map, just like Diablo. The farming process is not simple because the item options also vary from various attribute values such as cold, fire, and lightning to job-specific stats. In addition, the dual class system that allows you to select and combine 2 out of 9 jobs further maximizes the freedom of these games.
3. Darksiders Genesis
Darksiders Genesis, the latest in the Darksiders series, is also indispensable. The Darksiders series has different genres for each work, but Genesis, the fourth installment, pursued the feeling of Diablo by producing it in the hack and slash genre from the quarter view point of view. In addition, there are many similarities with Diablo in terms of worldview, such as the existence of angels and demons and the story of the 4 knights of the Apocalypse trying to save mankind from them.
As the series itself deals with the narrative as important, the advantage is that you can experience an immersive story. It shares the world view with the previous works, but it is a prequel work, so there is no big problem in proceeding with the game. In addition, alternating battle between ‘War’, which deals with guns, and ‘Stripe’, which deals with great swords, is definitely a differentiated part. Because of this, many people evaluate that it has a distinct advantage over other hack and slash games in terms of action.
4. V Rising
Next is V Rising, which was released as Early Access on Steam in May of last year. From the beginning of its release, it was a work that attracted considerable popularity, exceeding 150,000 concurrent users on a daily basis and recording the highest sales worldwide on Steam. The game deals with the confrontation between vampires and humans, with the vampire side being the protagonist. In fact, there are many fresh elements related to vampires in the game, such as absorbing human blood or receiving better buffs depending on the purity of the blood.
What users can enjoy is largely divided into RPG, crafting, construction, and PvP. You can gather materials to craft equipment, gain special abilities through boss battles, wage siege warfare over people and items, or build your own castle. In particular, you can enjoy RPG-like fun comparable to Diablo in various equipment and tool manufacturing methods and boss fights. Thanks to this addictiveness, it is not uncommon to find more than 100 hours of reviews on steam reviews.
5. Book of Demons
The last game I would recommend is The Book of Demons. As the name also includes Book, it is a deck-building hack and slash game with graphics that look like they are made of paper. Here, ‘Isn’t it too different from Diablo?’ You may have an idea. However, when you play the game, you’ll find that it’s very Diablo-esque, from the dungeon structure and somber atmosphere, to the health and mana design, and even the villagers who pay homage to Deckard Cain.
On the other hand, Book of Demons deals with a slightly unfamiliar element in the hack and slash of deck building. Skills, consumable items, and equipment are all made up of cards, and you use them by equipping them. Considering the maximum amount of mana, you need to distribute and utilize items appropriately. However, the point-and-click system is a little confusing. It’s a personal preference whether you accept this as a simple and easy operation or a cumbersome and troublesome operation.
