1. Often eat high-fat foods

A Tel Aviv University study of more than 10,000 Israeli men found that people who married in middle age were 64 percent less likely to die of stroke over the next 34 years than single men.

The data is adjusted for other factors such as socioeconomic status, blood pressure and smoking. Apart from that, men who are dissatisfied with their marriage are also at the same risk of stroke as single men.

3. Feeling unhappy

In a study presented at the International Stroke Conference, researchers looked at 13,000 Americans for 19 years and found that people with the highest Body Mass Index (BMI) were more at risk of stroke than someone with a lower BMI.

According to the study author, Hiroshi Yatsuya in a statement, this is related because several stroke risk factors can be exacerbated by obesity. Apart from that, he said that high blood pressure and diabetes were the biggest causes.

5. Smoking
