1. Foods and Drinks Containing Lots of Sugar
Excessive sugar consumption is associated with an increased risk of gallstone formation. Sweet food can disrupt the balance of bile salts and cholesterol, leading to the formation of gallstones.
A diet high in sugar often leads to weight gain, which is a known risk factor for gallbladder disease. Examples of these foods include soda, energy drinks and sweet tea, cakes, cookies and donuts.
2. Processed carbohydrates
Refined carbohydrates, such as white bread, pasta, and pastries, lack fiber and important nutrients. A diet high in refined carbohydrates can increase the risk of gallstones by causing a spike in blood sugar and insulin levels, which can adversely affect bile production.
Foods to avoid include white rice, white bread, and regular pasta. Sweet Cereals and Instant Oatmeal. To support gallbladder health, switch to whole grains like brown rice, whole wheat bread, and quinoa.
