This Saturday, February 10, 2024 marks the big return of “The Voice” on TF1. The opportunity to find Vianney as a coach on the famous red armchairs and to learn more about the funny and spontaneous singer.
1 – Destined for another career
Before becoming one of the French’s favorite singers, Vianney imagined his career in a completely different field: fashion. Indeed, the coach of “The Voice” studied sewing and drawing, obtaining his diploma from the Higher School of Fashion Arts and Techniques (ESMOD), which he passed brilliantly. This love of clothing appeared as a result of “frustration”. The musician wore a uniform in middle and high school, “liberating him from the appearance.”
“By spending so much time in uniform, I think I had fantasized about clothing. I spent a lot of time sewing and drawing (…) This school taught me a lot and fulfilled me. Graphic design appealed to me helps me today to express myself for my briefs on music videos, tours, record covers. The same for the models of my songs, everything is clear with precise indications for the lines of strings, piano…”, confided Vianney during an interview with JDD.
Although he eventually turned to a musical career, he did not forget his love for fashion. He even created his own clothing brand in June 2021, named “VRAI”, which he is developing alongside his mother. A great family adventure that allowed him to realize a childhood dream.

2 – Traveler at heart
Vianney is a true adventurer and loves extreme sensations. On several occasions, he undertook solo journeys, favoring unconventional modes of transport such as cycling. These expeditions allowed him to discover new horizons and live unique experiences, often marked by physical and emotional challenges. His trip to Sweden for two months, for example, where he traveled the country on a bicycle, which he had found in a recycling center, was very intense, but he has wonderful memories of it.

“I was disappointed,” he explained to Frédéric Lopez in “A Sunday in the Country.” And added: “I had lost 12 kilos, I ate very little, I only ate when I met people. I did 100 miles a day, so I was obviously bursting. (…) Somehow, I I was looking for a little suffering to reflect on, to connect to myself and to heaven.”
Vianney is not afraid of anything. At the age of 18, he attempted to hitchhike to Israel. He only had 100 euros in his pocket at the time… Once he arrived in Cyprus, he was forced to turn back towards France due to lack of money to pay a passage tax.
3 – He owes his first name to a Saint
Vianney, from a practicing Catholic family, owes his first name to Jean-Marie Vianney, holy priest of Ars. Although discreet about his faith, he affirms that it helps him protect himself and gives him personal balance. He prefers not to impose his beliefs on others and emphasizes the importance of respecting individual freedom in matters of spirituality.
“I’m not attacking anyone with that,” he assured in the show “Sept à quatre”, before explaining: “The limit is not to try to convince people. We don’t isn’t here for that. It’s our personal path, but people have their own and we have to give them that freedom.”
4 – He is the 3rd favorite singer of… His stepdaughter
The “I’m Going” singer became very close to his daughter-in-law, even though being a stepfather was not a prospect he had considered. He also wrote a love song for her, entitled “Beau-papa”, even if he remains very discreet about his private life.
However, on the set of “C à vous”, the artist, who made himself known thanks to his videos shared on YouTube, did not hesitate to tell an adorable anecdote about his partner’s daughter, Catherine Robert. “It reminds me that once my daughter-in-law told me that I was in her favorite singers,” he recalled. Then, imitating the little girl’s voice, he continued: “There is Kendji, Maître Gims…and me. I am my daughter-in-law’s third favorite singer, (…) so I am very thrilled.”
5 – His father, his model
The father of a little boy named Edgar has always been immersed in the musical world. Although he had a very strict upbringing, since his parents were both in the military, he grew up hearing his mother play the piano. For his part, his father loved to sing songs to him.
It is also thanks to this paternal model that Vianney, “Néné” to his friends, launched into music. His father sang on the guitar in the evening, and he wanted to do the same thing with his stories, from the age of 12. The rest, everyone knows.
