5 exciting stories during the G20 Bali summit, beware of the shock!

Badung, CNBC Indonesia Indeed, the G20 Bali Summit (Summit) officially closed on Wednesday 16 November 2022. It’s just that there have been a number of exciting events since this meeting of the leaders of the world’s major economies that have intrigued the public.

While not all heads of state attended, heads of state from major economies such as the United States (USA), China, India, Japan, and Germany attended and attended to the very end.

Curious what tense and funny moments created by world leaders. The following is a summary from CNBC Indonesia.

1. Xi Jinping vs. Justin Trudeau

Video of Chinese President Xi Jinping looking angry at Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau during the G20 summit meeting has been widely circulated in cyberspace.

Citing Reuters and RT, Xi’s frustration was actually the result of the ten-minute meeting between the two.

A Trudeau source raised “serious concerns” about China’s “meddling activities” in Canada, ranging from industrial espionage to meddling in the 2019 federal election.

The two heads of state met on the sidelines of the G20 summit. Trudeau and Xi Jinping discussed the situation in Ukraine, North Korea and the upcoming December biodiversity conference, jointly hosted by Beijing and Ottawa.

However, some of his talking points have been exposed in public. This has become the root of the problem that infuriated Xi Jinping.

When they met again on the sidelines of the G20 summit last Wednesday, the two spoke while standing. Just a minute later, the conversation broke out with Xi speaking through an interpreter, telling Trudeau that everything the two sides discussed had been leaked to the newspapers. “This is inappropriate. And that’s not how conversations are conducted,” Xi said with a serious expression.

“In Canada, we believe in free, open and frank dialogue, and that’s what we will continue to do,” Trudeau replied, speaking through an interpreter who was still trying to finish Xi’s words.

“We will continue to work together constructively, but there will be things we disagree on,” added the Canadian leader. Later Xi answered this question again. With a straight face, he offers to shake Trudeau’s hand again. “We set the conditions [untuk itu] before,” Xi replied. The two turned and walked away.

2. Macron carrying a child

French President Emmanuel Macron is the talk of the town on social media. The reason is that one of the leaders of the G20 countries took the time to go for a leisurely night walk at the end of the first day of the G20 summit on Tuesday (15/11/2022).

Through a series of videos released on social networks, Macron can be seen walking accompanied by his helpers. In one of the videos, Macron can be seen approaching a mother who is holding her baby.

With the mother’s permission, Macron picked up and kissed the baby on the cheek. You can see Macron smiling happily as he holds the baby wearing the brown bandana.

Not only that, Macron, in a simple appearance, i.e. a white shirt and black trousers, also greeted a number of Balinese who happened to be in the place where he was walking.

The number one person in France is known to have walked from the exit of Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) to the front of Bali State Polytechnic University for 2 kilometers at around 22.00 WITA.

3. Plant the mangrove

United States (USA) President Joe Biden and a number of G20 heads of state, such as French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi jointly planted mangroves at the Bali Grand Forest Park (Tahura) Ngurah Rai, Bali, this afternoon, Wednesday (16/11/2022).

By monitoring CNBC Indonesia, President Joko Widodo called on state guests of the G20 summit to plant mangrove trees. All heads of state, including Biden, are in their respective positions.

With the direction of a guide from Tahura, Biden, Macron, Modi and several heads of state were asked to put mangrove seeds in the hole. Then, together, they were asked to pile the soil into the hole with a hoe.

One by one, including European Commission President Ursula Von der Layen, they had to dig up the soil around the mangrove trees. This moment made the heads of state smile, and a number of foreign and foreign media who witnessed it laughed.

4. G7 meeting within the G20

The G7 and NATO countries held an emergency meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit series of events in Bali. This is because a Russian missile believed to have ‘devastated’ a village in Poland forced leaders of G7 member countries attending the G20 Bali Summit (Summit) to hold an emergency meeting.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Teuku Faizasyah acknowledged that there was an emergency meeting held by members of the G7 countries. For Indonesia, this is part of the dynamics of every international meeting.

This meeting was also confirmed by the European Commission (European Commission).

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and European Council President Charles Michel attend an emergency meeting of world leaders after an alleged Russian missile explosion in Poland, in Bali, Indonesia on November 16, 2022. It can be seen from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s post that world leaders like US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak are having serious conversations.

“We found clear words on Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine: the use of nuclear weapons as an escalation is unacceptable. This represents the red line that everyone has drawn,” the German chancellor said in an Instagram post @bundeskanzler, quoted Friday (18/11)/2022).

“The Russian president is almost alone in the world with his policies. He has no powerful allies and it is completely unacceptable that he continues his war in Ukraine unchanged and with air strikes,” he continued.

5. Batik or Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in the spotlight as he attended the G20 summit dinner on Tuesday (15/11/2022). Trudeau comes in a fuchsia batik. It looks like he walked the red carpet with confidence.
