5 European countries enter the dark red zone

As of Thursday, February 17, the list of countries by color zones has been updated, according to which the procedure for entering Bulgaria has been determined, the Ministry of Health announced.

The “red” zone already includes France, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Cyprus, the Maldives, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Japan and others.

Also from 17 February, the “dark red” zone includes the Netherlands, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Cayman Islands, Bahrain, Georgia and New Caledonia.

The full list of countries by zone is published on the website of the Ministry of Health.

The red zone includes countries with a 14-day incidence of between 500 and 5,000 per 100,000 population. Persons arriving from these countries are admitted to Bulgaria upon presentation of a valid EU digital COVID certificate for vaccination, for disease or for a study (by PCR or antigen test) or equivalent / similar documents.

The countries in which the 14-day morbidity is over 5,000 per 100,000 population are placed in a dark red zone. Travelers from this area are allowed in our country upon presentation of a digital COVID certificate for vaccination, illness or similar document, at the same time with a negative result from a PCR test conducted up to 72 hours before entering the country. Those who have an EU digital COVID certificate for vaccination with an additional (booster) dose or similar document are not required to present a negative PCR test result. In other words, the booster dose guarantees free movement regardless of the color zone.

Upon entering from the red zone, Bulgarian citizens and permanent residents may not present any of these documents, but in this case they are placed under a 10-day quarantine. It can be canceled if the person presents a negative result from PCR or antigenic test, made not earlier than 72 hours after arrival in our country.

When entering from a dark red zone, it is also possible for Bulgarian citizens and permanent residents to enter without any of the required documents. In this case, however, their 10-day quarantine is without revocation. If they have one document, they are placed under a 10-day quarantine, which can be revoked if the person presents a negative result from a PCR test performed no earlier than 72 hours after arrival in the country.

Children aged 12 to 18, arriving from countries in the dark red zone, are admitted to Bulgaria upon presentation of a valid EU digital COVID certificate for testing or an equivalent or similar document with a negative result from a PCR test conducted up to 72 hours before entering the country. . If they do not present such a document, they are placed under a 10-day quarantine, which can be revoked if the person presents a negative result from a PCR test performed no earlier than 72 hours after arrival in the country. For children, such requirements apply only to the dark red area.
