On Thursday (13) a white teenager in Raleigh, the capital of North Carolina, opened fire with a long pistol, killing at least five people, including an off-duty police officer, and four others with gunshot wounds. The suspect became trapped in the stable at one point and was subsequently arrested.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 7:00 pm local time on Thursday and the suspect, who was 13 to 16, was wearing protective clothing, black boots and a backpack. Among the injured there is also a police officer. It is not known whether the identity of the dead or the injured is related to the suspect, nor the motive of the suspect.
After the incident, police asked nearby residents to stay home and blocked many roads, sending a drone to the barn where the suspect was hiding to try to negotiate with him, but the drone then malfunctioned. Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin said the suspect was now under control, but police did not say if they could communicate with him.
