A LOT 5 countries that could potentially support a move Indonesian National team from AFF the EAFF will be discussed in this article. Just to note, PSSI openly admitted that they had established communication with the East Asian Football Federation.
“Yes (communication with EAFF) has conveyed us through the Secretary General. Maybe he (EAFF) is happy if we enter,” said Mochamad Iriawan to the media crew which was also attended by the MNC Portal Indonesia team.
A number of countries are believed to be happy if the Indonesian national team leaves the AFF and joins EAFF. So, who are the countries in question?
Here are 5 countries that have the potential to support the move of the Indonesian national team from AFF to EAFF:
5. Vietnam
Vietnam is a country that plays a big role in the desire of the Indonesian national team to leave the AFF. It started with the PSSI report to the AFF which was ignored, regarding the alleged existence of elephant football in the Vietnam U-19 national team vs Thailand U-19 national team match in the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup.
The Vietnamese people also strongly agree if Indonesian National team leave AFF. They even suggested the AFF to invite Australia to the senior AFF Cup to replace the Indonesian national team.
“I hope that Indonesia leaves the AFF and its position is replaced by Australia,” said one Vietnamese football lover named Le Xuan Lan, commenting on the news from one of the Vietnamese media, Dantri.
4. Singapore
Singapore is predicted to be very supportive of the decision Indonesian National team. Because, Singapore’s steps are often stopped by the Indonesian national team in the AFF Cup.
In the 2016 and 2020 AFF Cups, Singapore’s progress was stopped after being defeated by the Indonesian national team. Ironically, in the 2020 AFF Cup, Singapore was eliminated by the Indonesian national team in the semifinals which were held at their own home.
3. China
With Indonesian National team moving to EAFF, the prestige of this East Asian football federation is believed to be increasing. China is also believed to strongly support this decision. Moreover, the current president of EAFF is from China, namely Du Zhaocai.
So far the strength of East Asian football leads to three names namely Japan, South Korea and China. It is not impossible that through improvements here and there, Indonesia can approach the level of the three countries above.
2. Japan
Japan is the strongest team in East Asia at this time. It is proven that Japan is ranked 24th in the world, the highest position compared to other East Asian teams.
The bilateral relationship between Indonesia-Japan football is slowly building up. One of them is the player’s career Indonesian National teamPrimary Arhan, with the Japanese League’s second tier club, Tokyo Verdy.
1. South Korea
South Korea is the country of origin of the coach Indonesian National team, Shin Tae-yong. The presence of Shin Tae-yong in the Indonesian national team has made South Korea have a close relationship with Indonesia.
Evidently, Shin Tae-yong’s work with the Indonesian national team has always been in the spotlight from the South Korean media. Therefore, do not be surprised if the South Korean Football Federation (KFA) supports PSSI’s move to EAFF.
Therefore, it is interesting to see what response PSSI will show next. Dare PSSI bring the Indonesian national team to leave the AFF and compete in EAFF? (RAM)
