Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Hospital In a number of countries, they are starting to be overwhelmed by the surge in inpatients due to the surge Covid-19 in the middle of the spread varian Omicron.

France even said the Omicron variant had dominated the country’s new Covid-19 cases. Meanwhile, the Omicron variant has triggered a Covid-19 tsunami in the United States which recorded daily infections of up to 582,000 cases in a day.

Here’s a list of countries where hospitals seem overwhelmed or have started setting alarms to avoid paralysis.

1. English

The UK has recorded daily cases of Covid-19 in the hundreds of thousands. The spike was thought to be due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

Currently, the UK has recorded 229,666 cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 with 54 deaths. That number is the highest in the world today.

Avoiding hospital paralysis, the UK is building a temporary hospital to cope with the surge in patients due to the crazy Covid-19 cases in the country.

Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) said it would provide additional front yard beds for the London, Bristol and Leeds areas from this week.

According to the plan, each hospital will accommodate about 100 additional patients.

“Given the high rate of Covid-19 infection and rising hospital admissions, the NHS is now in a position of war,” said National Medical Director Stephen Powis in a statement. AFP, Thursday (30/12).

But medical staff in the UK have also criticized the efficiency of beds and shortages of medical staff due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The UK has been one of the hardest hit countries in Europe. The daily number of cases reached 189 thousand cases as of Thursday (30/12), while the total number of deaths was more than 148,000.

2. Italy

Medics at the Covid-19 Casalpalocco Covid hospital in Rome, Italy, admitted that they were overwhelmed by the surge in patients at the hospital.

“We are inundated with requests for (patients) to come in. It’s constant pressure,” the hospital’s medical director, Antonio Marchese, told AFP, Friday (31/12).

Marchese fears the surge in patients will continue and will likely be higher.

Of the 120 beds in the hospital, 111 beds are filled with patients infected with Covid-19. According to Marchese, most of the patients treated at his hospital have not been vaccinated.

Italy’s daily Covid-19 cases broke a record for the second day in a row. On Wednesday (29/12) daily cases of Covid-19 in Italy reached 98,030 infections and 136 deaths. Then on Thursday (30/12), daily cases were recorded at 126,888 cases, with a death toll of 156 people.

This number is in line with the surge in cases of patient admissions in Italian hospitals. The increase was triggered by the Omicron variant and the reluctance of citizens to be vaccinated.
