While sporadic group infections in hospitals and nursing facilities continue, corona infection was confirmed at another university hospital in Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Boramae Hospital, run by Seoul National University Hospital, said yesterday that five confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection occurred in the third floor ward that treats homeless people.
The 5 confirmed cases were 3 patients, 1 doctor and 1 nurse.
Seoul Boramae Hospital is conducting diagnostic tests by closing the ward where the confirmed person was found and quarantining patients and medical staff there.
Hospital officials said that there are no additional confirmed cases so far, and that some tests are still in progress, making it difficult to say the overall scale.
In the case of Seoul Hanyang University Hospital in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, the cumulative number of confirmed cases has increased to 27.
Each has 10 patients, 8 caregivers, 7 family members, and 2 workers, each with one doctor and one nurse.
The Central Defense Response Headquarters explained that although these medical staffs were found to have contact power while nursing or treating patients in the ward, more epidemiological investigations were needed on how the direction of infection progressed.
