5 Civilians Killed, 12 Injured

Troops Ukraine carried out bombings in the eastern city of Donetsk. As a result of the incident, five civilians were killed and 12 others were injured.

“As a result of the bombing by Ukrainian troops, five people were killed and 12 others injured in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” local authorities said in a statement posted on Telegram.

Donetsk is the de facto capital of the self-proclaimed republic of Donetsk in the Donbas coal region of eastern Ukraine.

Parts of Donetsk have been controlled by pro-Russian separatists since 2014. The area has been the target of intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops who launched an offensive in Ukraine on February 24.

“Starting this morning, massive enemy bombardment targeted the capital of the republic,” pro-Russian forces said in a statement.

He added that more than 200 155mm caliber artillery shells fell in several districts of Donetsk on Saturday.

Russian news agencies reported that the shooting targeted a cinema and cafe in the city center.
