As is known, high cholesterol levels in the body over time can trigger the emergence of various other diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, and others. As quoted by the Times of India, the following spices or herbs are effective for lowering bad cholesterol.
1. Garlic
This one kitchen spice seems to never be absent as a spice in every dish. In addition to making food more delicious, garlic is effective in helping lower blood cholesterol levels. According to a study in the Avicenna Journal of Phytomedicine, extracts from garlic can lower total and LDL cholesterol.
Another study in the Journal of Nutrition also said that garlic extract could reduce total and LDL cholesterol levels by 7 and 10 percent, respectively. Consumption of garlic is also claimed to prevent blood clots, lower blood pressure, and fight infection.
