Bola.net – Manchester City certainly will still play on The Champions League next season, a pretty surprising decision. Of course, this decision drags on as well as some other things that have continued to be discussed in the last few months.
Monday (07/13/2020) yesterday, the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) granted Man City’s appeal. The two-year sentence handed down by UEFA was completely crossed out, with Man City being allowed to play in Europe next season.
This CAS ruling is clearly good news for Man City, but do other clubs feel that way? What is clear, La Liga president, Javier Tebas, immediately criticized the CAS after ratifying the decision.
Man City was initially convicted of violating FFP rules, there is already some evidence. However, as CAS withdrew the case, the firmness and use of the FFP rules began to be questioned.
What is clear is that the revocation of Man City’s sentence leaves a number of cases, to be precise, there are 5 things that are involved in the matter. What does this CAS ruling mean for Man City as a club and for football the next few years?

1. The future of FFP
For years, UEFA-style FFP overshadowed the transfer market, overseeing and restricting the movements of big clubs. This rule is what prevents clubs as big as PSG and Man City from trying to buy players at unreasonable prices.
However, if FFP can continue to be controlled like this, what else should UEFA do? Big clubs like PSG and Man City have a lot of sense to trick FFP, just look at Neymar’s unreasonable transfers.
Happy for city with decision being overturned… ffp now being called in to question… simple solution forget ffp… bring in salary cap for all teams and problem solved… if teams breach those rules which is easier to prove, hit them hard and they won’t just like in US SPORTS

Therefore, UEFA may have to design new rules that are more stringent than FFP. This does not mean removing FFP completely, because this regulation can protect small clubs, even though it can only oversee large clubs.

2. The struggle for European tickets in the Premier League
Once Man City’s fate in Europe was clear, the Premier League was immediately affected. Previously there were a number of big clubs hoping to get an extra ticket if Man City were banned from playing next season, but now that hope is gone.
Currently there are only two tickets left for the Champions League next season, namely by securing 3rd and 4th place. The competition was tense between three teams: Manchester United, Chelsea and Leicester City.

3. Man City’s great mission in the Champions League
For years Man City has tried to build a team that has the potential to become Champions League champions. Now the team is starting to mature, with Pep Guardiola as coach.
Previously, Man City players might feel this season was their last chance to win the Champions League, like the World Cup. However, the abolition of punishment changed the situation.
Of course this change can affect team mentality. If previously the players felt ‘now or not at all’, now they always have the opportunity ‘next year try again’.

5. The future of Guardiola
Guardiola spent four years in Barcelona. He lasted three years at Bayern Munich. Now, he has spent four years with Man City.
One of the reasons Guardiola is willing to accept Man City is because of a large project offered by the club. He also got the right resources to develop the squad.
So far there is no sign that Guardiola is satisfied working in the Premier League. Maybe he would consider his future if banned from playing in the Champions League, but now that concern is gone.
Now, what Man City needs to do is provide the best support to defend Guardiola.
