5.9 Richter earthquake in Turkey – First estimates of seismologists – Watch video –

A strong earthquake occurred on Wednesday morning in Turkey. According to the first information, the earthquake shook eastern Turkey.

The seismic tremor was 5.9 on the Richter scale, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.

The epicenter is located 45 km east of the city of Malatea and the focal depth is estimated at 9 km.

“No calls for help recorded”

The prefect of Elazig, Nouman Hatipoglou, said that so far no calls from citizens for help have been recorded. The mayor of Malatia, Sami Er., said the same.
