A strong earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale shook the Costa Rican province of Guanacaste (northwest) today, Wednesday, without reports of victims or material damage so far, reported the National Seismological Network (RSN) of the University of Costa Rica. Delicious.
The agency indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 22 kilometers east of the city of La Cruz, in the province of Guanacaste, near the border between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, at a depth of 157 kilometers, at 3:21 p.m. local.
The movement was felt in a large part of the Costa Rican territory according to social media users, despite having occurred in one end of the country.
According to the RSN report, the earthquake had its origin in the subduction of the Coco plate (deformation of the plate at intermediate depth).
