5.1 Richter Scale Earthquake Shakes Kusadasi, Turkey – No Injuries Reported

A strong earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale shook Kusadasi, Ayden County, in western Turkey this morning.

The quake was 47 km south of Karabaglar, 15 km west west of Kusadasi, Turkey, at a depth of 12 km. The earthquake was registered at 08:19.

The event at 07:19 Bulgarian time had an epicenter 520 km from the city of Burgas, reports the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography – BAS.

The earthquake caused a strong panic among people, BTA reported.

The governor of Izmir Suleyman Elban indicated on his account on the social network Ex that at this stage no data on injured people and material damage has been received.

AFAD teams have been sent to the area to conduct a field survey for possible damage.

So far, there is no evidence that the earthquake was felt on the territory of Bulgaria.
