A 5.1 magnitude earthquake has shaken parts of Oklahoma late Friday night, according to official reports.

The earthquake’s epicenter, located just northwest of Prague in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, is positioned only 50 miles east of Oklahoma City.

No reports of damages or injuries have been recorded in the area, but authorities are actively assessing the situation.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, earthquakes in the eastern parts of the Rocky Mountains, although less common than in the west, have the potential to be felt over a much larger area. An earthquake in the east has the capacity to be felt over an area more than ten times larger than a similar magnitude earthquake on the west coast.
