In the post announcing the availability of the Metro Exodus SDK, 4A Games also talked about their next project in development, openly talking about the new installment in the Metro series. Without going into details, the Ukrainian studio talked about how the story told in the game has been affected by the current situation, which has been going on since February 2022:
“Even the next Metro is changing for the better. And not only because of the circumstances in which we find ourselves. We have never hidden the fact that the Metro series contained a strong political and pacifist message. Of course, we always wanted to immerse you in a post-apocalyptic world, but it also tells a great story. Recent events have forced us to re-evaluate the storyline of the next Metro. All Metro themes: conflict, power, politics, tyranny and repression are now part of our daily lives. So we decided to bring them into the game with a new purpose. Now this is the most important thing for us.”
After describing the hardships of everyday studio life, the post continued with an explanation:
“Our “newnormality is not normal by any standard. This is wartime life, and it inevitably enters into the games we play.”
Hence the specification for the development of the second project, about which practically nothing is said, except that it “close to us and your heartsWe will see what it will be, hoping first of all that the whole team will overcome these difficult moments.
