Hanoi, April 7 (VNA) — Some 485,000 poor and near-poor households have accessed loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), worth a total of around 21.86 trillion VND (932 .17 million) in the first three months of this year.
The bank said that as of March 31, 2023, its total outstanding loans reached 291.75 trillion VND, up 8.4 trillion VND from 2022, benefiting more than 6.58 million households and beneficiaries of social policy.
The loans have created jobs for more than 129,000 workers, including 1,917 guest workers, and supported more than 17,000 struggling students. They have also been used to build more than 352,000 water and sanitation facilities in rural areas and thousands of homes.
According to the bank, as of March 2023, localities have earmarked more than 34.2 trillion dong from its budgets for lending to the poor and other social policy beneficiaries.
Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and the provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau were among the localities that saw the highest capital disbursement rates.- VNA
