On 4 October this year, a construction site in Bulgaria turned 48 since its first sod was broken. However, the end of this project is still a long way off.
On this date, in 1974, construction of the Hemus Highway officially began. The first sod was made by the then leader of the totalitarian communist regime in the country, Todor Zhivkov.
The section of the “Hemus” highway between Bukhovtsi and Belokopitovo will be open to traffic by the beginning of October.
This was announced by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works arch. Ivan Shishkov during an inspection of the construction of the third section of the “Hemus” highway last month – September 2022.
