Orange warning for severe weather conditions that will last 48 hours, the Meteorological Service has issued.
The orange warning comes into force at 22:00 and will end the day after Wednesday at the same time.
Rains and locally strong storms are expected to affect mainly the northern half and eastern areas of the island. Hail may also fall in a storm.
The intensity of the rain is expected to vary between 55 and 70 millimeters per hour.
Speaking on State Radio, the official of the Meteorological Service, Tasos Koulentis, said that most phenomena are expected from late tonight until Wednesday. He noted that in some areas the effects will be prolonged.
Mr. Koulentis said that this is the same system, which gives heavy snowfall and low temperatures in the Greek area and moves at a slow pace, further east towards the area of Cyprus.
