48 Corona infections added in Aalsmeer

Aalsmeer – The number of coronavirus infections is increasing sharply across the country. The Randstad in particular is deeply in the red. The most commonly reported infections have been detected in Amsterdam for days. The major cities of Rotterdam and The Hague are also in the top three every day. The corona virus is also taking hold in the places around the capital.

157 infections were found in Aalsmeer last week. The week before, this number was 109, so an increase of 48 infected residents. With a number of 100,000 inhabitants this is 492.8 and with this figure Aalsmeer overwrites its larger neighboring municipalities Amstelveen and Haarlemmermeer (both 453.8 per 100,000).

Fortunately, no residents of Aalsmeer have been admitted to hospitals and no deaths are to be regretted. Also in Uithoorn and Amstelveen, the admissions and deaths remain at zero this week. In Haarlemmermeer, 7 residents are in hospital for treatment and 6 residents have not survived the covid-19 virus.

127 infections were detected in Uithoorn this week. Last week this was 97, so 30 more (430.8 per 100,000). In Amstelveen, the number of infected residents rose by 72 (from 344 to 416) and in Haarlemmermeer by 262 (from 446 to 708).

Measures

Last Tuesday, October 13, the cabinet announced additional measures, which will take effect immediately today. There was plenty of speculation about this and what was feared is the truth for the next two or four weeks: The catering industry (cafes and restaurants) must be closed and the sports competition has been halted. Pick-up at restaurants is still possible. Do this and keep shopping locally. Together in Aalsmeer against corona!

It is clear that corona is currently winning the ‘fight’ and this tide must of course be turned. It is therefore still important to wash your hands regularly, keep a distance of 1.5 meters, stay at home when you have a cold and wear a mouth mask in public public buildings.
