On April 1, 1977, Dunakeszi Nagyközség was granted city status, and over the past half century it has become one of the most important settlements in Pest county thanks to the continuous and conscious city-building drive. The 47th birthday of becoming a city was celebrated on April 6 in the framework of a spectacular family day by Dunakeszi’s little ones. The birthday is not just an anniversary, but a reminder of the exciting and varied journey that the now nearly fifty thousand-year-old city has been able to take over the past decades.
In honor of the important anniversary, the Dunakeszi Program Office awaited the young and old of the city celebrating its 47th birthday with a multitude of spectacular and meaningful programs.
On Saturday morning, on Katonadomb, Réka Farkasházi and Tintanyúl started the show that lasted until late at night, and was crowned by Majka’s fantastic concert.
Between the opening and closing programs, the celebrants of Dunakes could be entertained by meaningful events, among which one of the big hits was Dr. Based on the idea of Dóra Kerekes and marked with her name Collect Dunakeszi! the final chord of sticker collection. Thanks to the Dunakeszi Post photo contest, we were once again able to marvel at the wonderful natural environment that surrounds Dunakeszi.
On the 47th anniversary of Dunakeszi becoming a city, Dunakeszi’s song was performed for the first time in a joint performance by the Dunakeszi Symphony Orchestra, Ferenc Farkas AMI and the music department students of the Bárdos school.
One of the highlights of the day was when the citizens born in Dunakesz were greeted on stage, including a mother whose two sons were born in Tabán. Nearly ninety people signed up and came in person to the welcome ceremony, which was implemented based on the idea of Zsófia Kundlya, the local government commissioner responsible for public relations, and received the certificate from mayor Csaba Dióssi, who warmly greeted the “rooted” citizens of Dunakes, who were born in the settlement.
In his birthday speech, the mayor emphasized that in the 47 years since it became a city, Dunakeszi has proven to be a real, cohesive community where all generations feel good, which was evidenced by the multitude of all-day programs and the wild Majka concert.
Happy birthday, Dunakeszi!
