Anyone who would like to attend as a group, class or after-school club has until September 15th to register: The 46th film festival for young audiences from three years to young adulthood begins on October 5th. A total of 41 feature, documentary and animated films can be seen in competition until October 12th in the cinema of the German Film Institute and Film Museum, which Lucas organizes as one of his flagships, in the Frankfurt Cinema, in Caligari Wiesbaden and in Hafen 2 in Offenbach 16 films in subsections. Among them are a good 20 German premieres, numerous filmmakers are coming, among other things the young filmmakers will be able to film and edit interviews themselves in a hands-on offer.
The extensive offers for interaction are already a foretaste of the exhibition “Lichtspielplatz”, which will follow in winter. In the tried and tested way, juries made up of equal numbers of children, young people and adult professionals will judge the competition winners, with the categories “Kids”, “Teens” and “Youngsters” it is possible to specify very flexible age recommendations, according to festival director Julia Fleißig. The spectrum ranges from short films lasting just a few minutes to long feature films – in the section for teenagers many are about first times.
