46th Edition of Almagro International Classical Theater Festival Kicks Off with Corral de Comedias Award

The curtain has already gone up on the 46th edition of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival. It was inaugurated with a complete corral of comedies, which enjoyed at the beginning of the performance of the Youth Choir of Madrid. An inauguration marked by the delivery of the XXIII Corral de Comedias Award to the actress Blanca Portillo, for a career that stands out for the combination between the classic and the contemporary. The Festival wanted to honor a professional who has given a new voice to the Golden Age, which this edition is about. Portillo was grateful and she used the word as a vehicle of expression in her speech.

The Corral de Comedias award has marked the inauguration of the Festival, which was attended by several prominent personalities, among them, the Minister of Culture, Miquel Iceta or the spokesperson and also Minister of the Government, Isabel Rodríguez, who highlighted the importance of culture in our society and a Festival that was born with democracy. Also in attendance was the Minister of Culture of Castilla-La Mancha, Rosa Ana Rodríguez, who pointed out that the regional executive’s commitment to the Almagro Festival is firm. The vice president of the acting Provincial Council, David Triguero, expressed himself in the same vein, who also highlighted the female role in the programming of this edition. The mayor of Almagro, Francisco Javier Nuñez, made his debut at the Festival, showing his gratitude to the organization.

The Festival will dress in Almagro culture throughout the month of July and the public will be able to choose between 40 shows, more than 100 performances and up to 6 productions by the National Classical Theater Company.
