4665 new corona infections, much lower than the weekly average | Inland

Last Sunday, RIVM reported 10,199 new infections. The RIVM said on Tuesday it already saw the beginning of a stabilization and that the number of cases could start to decrease during the course of this week. Two weeks ago, the cabinet took measures to stop the explosive increase in the number of corona cases.

The weekly average of 6454 is still much higher than a month ago. When the easing started at the end of June, the number of positive tests was around 600 per day.

4 people died

According to figures from Sunday, 4 people have died. 4 deaths were also reported on Saturday. Deaths are often reported a little later by the GGDs, so it does not necessarily concern people who have died in the past 24 hours.

Amsterdam remains the leader in the number of new cases: 318 people tested positive in the capital. Rotterdam follows with 279 new infections, in The Hague 99 people received a positive test result. Utrecht counted 81 new infections, in Tilburg there were 77.

Number of corona patients in hospitals is rising

The total number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals rose to 533 on Sunday. That is 29 more than on Saturday, when 504 people were hospitalized with Covid-19. This is evident from figures from the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS).

Most corona patients are in the nursing ward, namely 399 people. That is 11 more than a day earlier. There are 134 patients in intensive care with corona, 18 more than on Saturday.

A total of 87 new patients with Covid-19 have been hospitalized. Of them, 16 had to go to ICU, and 71 ended up in a nursing ward. The day before, 89 new patients were added.
