455,000 € for “Uniqa-Haus” – New educational campus for Horn?

Without a debate and without a dissenting vote, the application by Finance City Councilor Heinrich Nagl was approved at the last municipal council meeting to buy the Uniqa insurance house, opposite the town hall and right next to the WA Mozart music school and the adult education center on Rathausplatz.

“The purchase was not originally planned, it just happened that way,” Nagl told the mandataries when he had the supplementary proposal approved, which included this purchase, and the resulting loan of 500,000 euros. The best bidder was Sparkasse Horn (0.41% surcharge on the six-month Euribor, no expenses, 15-year term). The purchase price is 455,000 euros, the municipality bears all contract costs, taxes and fees.

Maier: “That was a huge shopping spree”

“It’s a good buy, we can expand the music school and community facilities,” says Maier. “Which these are will still have to be discussed.” In the NÖN conversation he specified his ideas after the municipality had made several purchases in recent years: the “Ibesich-Haus” next to the club house, the “Kienzl-Villa” near Outdoor swimming pool (it has already been razed and the sunbathing area enlarged), the EVN building in the city ditch behind the music school or the house of the music school and adult education center, which was formerly owned by the Sparkasse. “That has been a huge shopping spree in recent years,” says Maier. “But such opportunities, which are important for urban development, simply cannot be missed.”

“Campus” at the town hall as a future project

“That was also the reason why we made this purchase,” explained Maier. “We want to build a kind of campus there over the next few years, including the courtyard. A new building would have cost millions, now over the years we can invest the money in the connection between the music school and the Uniqa building. ”The fact that a“ campus ”is not too ambitious arises from the fact that around 1,500 per week People frequent the two schools. “That of course also contributes to the revitalization of the city center.”

“We certainly won’t break anything over the knee. We try everything to find a sensible solution in the interests of the taxpayer. “Mayor Jürgen Maier

Both houses then of course also have to be made barrier-free and a lift installed, which is rather difficult because of the half-floors in the music school (Maier: “That will need a creative solution!”). The city administration itself will not claim the newly acquired house, rather the city library could move there, which is in the interests of the campus, and this would also free up space for city office facilities.

While the houses bought by the municipality have already found a corresponding use, there is no such thing for the “Ibesich House”. “We will have another meeting with potential users soon,” said Maier. “We certainly don’t break anything over the knee, we try everything to find a sensible solution in the interests of the taxpayer.”

The “Ibesich-Haus” next to the club house at the intersection of Hamerlingstrasse and Spitalgasse has been leading a rather miserable existence for years. According to Mayor Jürgen Maier, discussions are held with potential users over and over again in order to come to a “sensible solution”.
