Customs intercepted two large consignments of cocaine in the port of Rotterdam. If the drugs had been sold on the street, they would have raised more than 33.5 million euros, says the Public Prosecution Service.
The first shipment of about 300 kilos was found in a container with cars from Panama, which was en route to Budapest. Yesterday, customs found 149 kilos of cocaine hidden between a batch of mangoes from Peru on their way to Belgium.
The case is being further investigated by the HARC team, a partnership of customs, FIOD, seaport police and the Public Prosecution Service. The drugs have since been destroyed.
