The police have brought charges against a 45-year-old man who robbed a bank in Gdańsk with a fake weapon. The man did not manage to steal anything. The incident took place yesterday at noon. The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards. The man will be held accountable for unsuccessfully attempting to commit a robbery while being a recidivist.
The suspect was previously convicted of a similar crime. – The man gave statements to the prosecutor’s office, but their content indicates the need to conduct psychiatric tests – said the head of the District Prosecutor’s Office Gdańsk Śródmieście Izabela Niewiadomska.
A motion has just been filed with the court to temporarily arrest the suspect for three months. The prosecutor’s office has charged him with a crime that took place in a bank on Cieszyńskiego Street in Chełm. There, a man entered with a pellet gun and demanded money. When he did not receive it, he fled. He was also seen in another bank, on Targ Drzewny. However, he did not threaten anyone there, so the prosecutor dropped the charge for that incident.
